PE
St John the Baptist Primary School offers a well-rounded Physical Education programme that reflects its commitment to pupil wellbeing and development. PE is timetabled weekly for all year groups, with structured lessons that promote physical skills, teamwork and confidence. Some of the PE activities include Games, Dance, Gymnastics and Athletics. Primary 4-5 also partake in a block of swimming lessons each year, developing both competency and confidence in the water.
St. John the Baptist PS also benefits from several outside organisations, who provide Physical Education Lessons for all pupils. These include Gaelfast (Antrim GAA), Istonians Rugby Club, Sarsfields GAC and ‘Mr Sports’. These groups provide a wide-ranging appeal that engage pupils across a variety of different sports and exercise.
The school also provides a plethora of extracurricular sports which are facilitated by both staff and volunteers. These include Gaelic Football, Hurling, Camogie, Netball, Soccer and Cross-Country. This rich PE provision both during and after-school ensures that every pupil has the opportunity to thrive physically and socially through sport and active play.
