Religious Education

Subject Co-ordinator - Mrs F Garvey

As a Catholic school our community is founded on the example and teaching of Christ. Through our practice of daily prayer through our ‘Daily Examen’, assemblies, participation in the Liturgy, preparation of sacraments and delivery of the ‘Grow in Love’ programme from P1-7, we aim to help children grow in knowledge and love of God our Father.

Our Religious Education programme has a strong pastoral element and we seek to promote awareness, understanding and respect for other religions and faiths. We promote an ethos of love, peace, justice and forgiveness.

At St John the Baptist, we believe Religious Education is much more than a curricular area and permeates the whole life of our school through the promotion of a set of values universally acceptable to all. We work very closely with our parish priest, Fr Feeney on our mission to deepen the relationship between the home, school and the parish of St Michael the Archangel.

Please note: parents/ guardians have the right to request their child does not participate in the school's Religious Education programme. Any such requests should be made by contacting the school directly and speaking with the principal.
